With new immersions of technology, it has become extremely easy to meet people through the internet, leading apps like Tinder and Bumble to become extremely popular among college-aged students. Now, instead of having to approach a stranger and have an in-person conversation, people may right-swipe on whoever they think is attractive and message them whatever they want. On Tinder, there’s really no monitoring of anything, so it allows people to message people ridiculous things and in a sense “troll”. It also gives people the power to make fake profiles and catfish others.
However, Tinder’s biggest impact seems to be the way it is changing how people meet their significant others. Instead of meeting in an “old-fashioned” way, Tinder has revolutionized the dating game. Instead of having to get to know a stranger, it does the work for people, giving a small snippet of who they are. Upon swiping, one can see a set of pictures, a bio with interests, what school they attend, and their age. This makes it easier for people to filter out people they’re less interested in. However, this app did bring forth complications, as while it makes it easier to connect with people, it’s causing our generation to communicate less in-person, relying on an app once again. Overall, I think that Tinder can be a successful way of meeting someone, but the legitimacy and purpose of it all must definitely be questioned.

The world of Tinder is so strange to me, probably because I’ve never had one. There’s a bunch of unspoken rules about the game, and there are certainly tactics and techniques one can employ to be more ‘successful.’
I agree with you when you say that it is changing the way people meet and connect. Instead of a physical approach, you have to approach someone digitally. In that way, the people who want to be the most appealing need to market themselves well and be good content creators.
