Although I already reflected upon my literacy sponsors in an earlier post, this in class activity gave me insight to some additional or more specific sponsors. For instance, I credited a sponsor of my literacy in my previous post to school, but I named an individual teacher in my literacy spider web. My English teacher from sophomore year to senior year of high school, Mr. Dron, heavily impacted my literacy as a whole. He was the first teacher to teach students concepts beyond the technical level, much of which attributed to my choice of majoring in writing, rhetoric and discourse (which still holds value to me even though I just switched majors). Mr. Dron instilled values of originality in writing, apt symbolism, intriguing ideas, metaphorical usage and much into my mindset, many of which are the foundation of not only my literacy in writing, but other things such as my musical literacy or apparel literacy. Broadly speaking, most people would consider their school to be the most impactful thing on a person’s literacy over a specific person, but through my personal life thus far, I would have to disagree. Whether that be through my parents, a few specific teachers or a few specific musicians, no one single institution has effected me more than the individuals that I have met in my life.
