Every person outlook on a certain thing can be really opposite. Everybody has a different meaning on how they view words but me and Kaestle definition of literacy might have something in common.
Kaestle definition of literacy compares to my definition of literacy because the way she came up with her idea and definition is sort of the same way i would say i did. We might have used the same sources or just from our knowledge to know what literacy means.
Part of Kaestle definition of literacy is “decode and comprehend written language”. Just this little piece of information can define the word. The regular dictionary definition is the ability to read and write. All ideas connect so that the definition of literacy stands out and is the same.
The governing classes began to encourage reading ability because what can you really do if you cannot read. I don’t think that there is too much of something you can do if you can’t read. I can say that they can say reading is essential and it is key to understanding the things that is going on in today’s world.
